About Us

In May 2012 Gargrave and Malhamdale Library (GMCL) was in the first wave of North Yorkshire Council (NYC) libraries to become a Community Library run by local volunteers. 

We are a member of the NYC network of libraries with NYC being responsible for supplying the books and other resources together with providing background support and equipment.

GMCL, through a Management Committee, is responsible for the day to day running of the Library together with associated costs and in raising the funds to ensure the financial stability of the Library.  GMCL is a registered Charity.
